Public Schools Fencing Championships Cancelled

Unfortunately the Public Schools Fencing Championships has been cancelled. Please see below the message from the organisers:

Owing to the latest developments in the escalating COVID-19 outbreak, we regret to inform you that the PSFC Committee has decided to cancel the 2020 Public Schools Fencing Championships.

Whilst HM Government and Public Health England advice remains that the event can be run, taking into consideration the decisions of a number of other sporting bodies to cancel or delay multiple major sporting events, the Committee felt that it was the best interest of both public health and the Competition, to cancel this year’s event.

The PSFC is a non-profit making event, run by a committee of volunteers on behalf of the competing schools. As such, our first priority is to cover the non-refundable costs of the event. Note that, whilst cancellation insurance is in place, it does not cover the current situation with regards to communicable diseases. Once this process is complete, we will seek to refund to schools a proportion of their entry fees from what funds remain.

Whilst the Committee will look to find an alternative date to host the Championship in 2020, given the complexity of school calendars and the limited availability of suitable venues, it is highly unlikely the Championship with be staged this year and instead we look forward to welcoming you all again in March 2021.

Finally, we hope you and your families remain safe and well during this difficult time,

The PSFC Committee
